Artists and Alchemists documentary

http://www.artistsandalchemists.com/

I had no idea this was in the works. Glad to see it. Considering the tenor of our program perhaps there's a way we could throw our support behind this, other than just spreading the word. I know I'd like to.

Not quite about photography...

...but important nonetheless. Boston, and moving thereto - where are YOU looking? I keep switching between as close as possible to the school and the city to be "where the action is" vs. out a little further where there is some space, peace, and lower rents (and also more my style). Where are some of the better places further out? Is NH out of the question? I have heard all the advice in the world (and then some) about everywhere within a 5 mile radius of AIB, and am now interested on the 10 to 30 mile radius. Thoughts?

Thanks!
Dave

Just to break the ice...

Hi! Dave Molnar here, just wanted to say hello and that I am honored and excited to be a part of this first MFA class! I am looking forward to meeting all of you and am encouraged and inspired by the work I have seen so far. I also feel lucky, as several of us are all going to be working together in Santa Fe in a few weeks. It will be a nice introduction to some classmates in a great, no pressure, good time atmosphere. If anyone wants to get in touch for any reason, please feel free - might as well open that door as soon as possible! I can sometimes get a little off topic and long winded (as I'm sure Christopher can attest, from some of the e-mails I've sent him) so I'll just leave it at this right now. Anxious to start the adventure together!

PS -  Go Bruins!

Studio in NH

Hi All

i forgot to identify that it was my studio, covered with ominous mammatus clouds, in the last (and first) post to our new blog.

It's beautiful here in Dublin today, crisp, almost fall like air, and a great day for landscaping and working with a chainsaw. First though, a copy edit on my new wet plate collodion chapter for the third edition of my book... almost 60 pages of new text and information. If you want a preview copy, just ask and i'll send it along to you.

Heading to Santa Fe in a few weeks to try it all out in three workshops and a lot of new people. Looking forward to seeing Angelina, Jess, Dave Molnar, Dave Hyams, and Cotton work together. Nikki Seggara had to bail on her place in the wet plate workshop to go on her honeymoon... imagine making that decision. I offered to let them have their honeymoon at the workshop... haha.

If anyone is interested in a last minute wet plate collodion road show experience there's a spot open.

All for now... see you soon
